Mediterranean’s first LNG-powered ferry, ELIO, built for Caronte & Tourist SpA by Sefine Shipyard, was launched on February 24.
The ferry has been named after the late Elio Matacena, the founder of C&T.

  • Nisa Navegacion of Chile, the parent company of NAVIMAG, has ordered a 150m, ro-pax from the Guangdong yard in China. Delivery March 2019.
  • NOVA STAR, which we reported as being sold to a Polferries company, will in fact be chartered by Polska Żegluga Bałtycka SA for two years. The confusion was caused by the word ‘acquired’ on the Polferries website. Several sources confirm the two-year bareboat charter, which started on February 9, and will see the ship in service on the Gdansk-Nynäshamn route as from end of March. (with thanks to PortalMorski)
