Two Catamarans To Helgoland

FRS Helgoline deploys a second catamaran to Helgoland.

From June 19, the SAN GWANN will support the catamaran “HALUNDER JET in island traffic from Hamburg and Cuxhaven.

With the use of a second catamaran on Helgoland, FRS Helgoline reacts quickly and flexibly to the current situation, with a clear focus on healthy and safe travel.

On both fast craft the daily passenger capacities are significantly reduced until further notice, in order to be able to keep to the recommended social distancing.

Together, up to 658 passengers can travel to Helgoland daily, almost the actual pre-Corona capacity of the HALUNDER JET of 680 passengers.

WDR orders catamaran ferry for the North Frisian Wadden Sea

Wyker Dampfschiffs-Reederei Föhr-Amrum GmbH (W.D.R.) and Dutch shipyard Talsma have signed the contract for the construction of a 34m passenger-only catamaran.
She will enter service in spring 2019 and expand the existing WDR conventional ferry offer to passengers without cars.
The aluminium vessel has been designed by Conoship from Groningen, and can accommodate around 150 passengers in winter and 250 in summer.
The challenge was to find a suitable vessel that has the best performance within the speed regulation parameters in the protected Wadden Sea. Her maximum speed will be 20 knots, which against the current will still allow her to reach 16 knots.

Austal likely to get a Fjord Line order for a new high-speed catamaran

By investing in new tonnage, Fjord Line would double the capacity on the route Kristiansand (Norway) – Hirtshals (Denmark).

The catamaran is going be built by Austal, says the Fjord Line press release. However, Austal said that it is still in discussions with Fjord Line.

The catamaran should be delivered in 2020. Travel time will be 2 hours and 15 minutes, with a top speed of 40 knots.
Capacity will be double, compared to the actual HSC FJORD CAT: 1,200 passengers, 410 cars.
